Senior Field Studies

SENIOR FIELD STUDIES

SFS has been transforming education for over 40 years as a experiential program based in Jefferson County Public Schools. This immersive experience combines wilderness expeditions, community service, and hands-on learning to inspire resilience, leadership, and real-world problem-solving in high school seniors.

TRAIL CREW

In the heart of Tonto National Forest, our trail work combines stewardship with education as students and volunteers restore and maintain critical pathways through this stunning wilderness. Through hands-on efforts, participants learn the importance of conservation, teamwork, and a deeper connection to the natural world. Together, we’re preserving access to these trails for generations to come.

CLASSROOM VOLUNTEER

Volunteers play a vital role in bringing learning to life by supporting classroom activities, mentoring students, and assisting with trip preparation and logistics. From guiding hands-on lessons to organizing gear for wilderness expeditions, their contributions empower students to embark on transformative journeys and ensure every detail is in place for a seamless experience.

FIELD TRIP DESTINATION

We’re always seeking exciting new field trip opportunities to inspire and engage our students! By exploring diverse environments, industries, and communities, students gain firsthand insights into real-world challenges and possibilities. Help us expand their horizons with meaningful experiences that ignite curiosity and build skills.

FARM/RANCH HOST FAMILY

We’re looking for welcoming farm and ranch families to host students for a transformative week-long live-in experience. By sharing your way of life, you’ll provide students with hands-on learning in agriculture and self-reliance while fostering connections that leave a lasting impact.

PARTNERSHIPS

We seek partnerships with businesses, organizations, and agencies that share our passion for immersive education. By helping to provide gear, access, transportation, and trade-specific training, partners fuel transformative experiences for students. From nonprofits to state agencies, these collaborations embed hands-on learning into real-world operations, empowering the next generation to thrive.
